UK indie prodco and sales outfit Silverlining TV has signed a first-look distribution deal with a fledgling company set up by a former BBC Earth executive.
Bristol-based Mustang Films has been set up by Charlotte Jones and specialises in natural history, science and factual content for the global market.
Creative director Jones spent more than six years at BBC Earth, where she oversaw projects such as the BBC Earth: Life in VR experience for Google Daydream.
Jones has also produced factual TV series including Freddie Flintoff Goes Wild and Japan’s Northern Wilderness for UK and international broadcasters.
The partnership between Mustang and Silverlining gives the latter a first-look option on all of Mustang’s forthcoming projects. The pair said they already have projects in development.
“I have long been an admirer of Charlotte’s energy and her love for risk-taking, pushing the boundaries of content creation. Her international outlook and specialist genre knowledge, plus her genuine love for compelling stories, meant we just had to have the inside track on anything coming out of her new production outfit,” said Silverlining MD Bethan Corney.
Silverlining was set up by ex-Tigress Productions and Channel 5 commissioner Corney in 2012. It has worked on projects such as Life of Earth from Space, Harry & Meghan: Royal Rebels, Nepal Quake: Terror on Everest and World’s Biggest Beasts.
