TV2 in Denmark and SBS Australia have pre-bought an ITV documentary series that goes inside luxury London hotel The Langham, from Pixie Productions and independent production finance broker and distributor Silverlining Rights.
Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel (6×30′) launches on July 21 on ITV1 and ITVX and has also been sold to APT (US), Ananey Paramount (Israel), Sky (New Zealand) and RTÉ (Ireland).
The series has exclusive access to the staff and guests at the hotel as it prepares for its 160th anniversary, revealing how The Langham competes with other high-end London hotels to attract visitors to its restaurants and rooms.
The series also travels to Venice with senior managers to inspect the new Langham Hotel being created on the site of a historic Murano glass factory.
Bethan Corney, founder and MD of Silverlining Rights, said: “Pulling together financing from multiple partners around the world to get the series funded and into production is a complex business but Silverlining’s model is proving successful for many UK indies, and particularly where it is such a sellable project from a top-quality team like Pixie Productions.
“We are pleased to have been able to work with them from the outset on Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel, bringing in financing from SBS and TV2, and brokering the deal with ITV to greenlight the series.”
The series is produced by Connie Fisher and directed and executive produced by Tim Green. It was commissioned by Jo Clinton Davis, controller of factual at ITV. The series is supported by the Welsh government via Creative Wales and Silverlining Rights is the exclusive worldwide distribution partner.
