Pixie Productions and independent production finance broker and distributor Silverlining Rights have joined forces on a six-part ITV series Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel.
Silverlining brokered the ITV deal and brought in additional financing in the form of pre-sales from international broadcasters TV 2 Denmark and SBS Australia. The series is also supported by the Welsh Government via Creative Wales.
Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel is produced by Connie Fisher and directed and executive produced by Tim Green. It was commissioned by Jo Clinton Davis, Controller of Factual ITV.
It will launch Tuesdays from 21st July at 7:30pm on ITV1 and ITVX, and has already been sold to APT (US), Ananey Paramount (Israel), Sky (New Zealand), and RTE (Ireland).
Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel (6×30’) has exclusive access to the staff and guests at the luxury London hotel as it prepares for its 160th anniversary. With five kitchens under the watchful eye of Culinary Director and chef Michel Roux Jr., serving Michelin-starred cuisine, wedding celebrations and dinner events for hundreds of guests, the series reveals how The Langham competes with other high-end London hotels to attract visitors to its restaurants and rooms.
Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel goes behind the scenes at Sauce, the first cookery school situated within a central-London luxury hotel as Michel Roux Jr. teaches fans how to cook a perfect soufflé, and the bar Artesian, where the bartenders are experimenting on a new cocktail menu. And as the hotel prepares to celebrate its 160th anniversary in style, in the legendary Palm court, viewers see how staff from all around the world rise to the occasion.
The series also travels to Venice with senior managers to inspect the new Langham Hotel being created on the site of a historic Murano glass factory, to ensure it maintains the luxury standards synonymous with the brand, while reflecting the local history of the location.
Connie Fisher, CEO of Pixie Productions said: “The Langham is one of Britain’s most iconic hotels, and it was fascinating to see how five-star luxury is delivered at such scale. We are delighted to be working with ITV and Silverlining to reveal The Langham in all its splendour to UK and international viewers.”
Bethan Corney, founder and MD, Silverlining Rights said: “Pulling together financing from multiple partners around the world to get the series funded and into production is a complex business but Silverlining’s model is proving successful for many UK indies, and particularly where it is such a sellable project from a top-quality team like Pixie Productions. We are pleased to have been able to work with them from the outset on Inside The Langham: Britain’s First Grand Hotel, bringing in financing from SBS and TV 2, and brokering the deal with ITV to greenlight the series.”
