Access documentary premieres on Channel 4 tomorrow

After more than a year in the making, Silverlining Rights Limited is thrilled to be able to offer Prince Albert: A Victorian Hero Revealed to channels globally following its premiere on the UK’s Channel 4 this weekend. Featuring unparalleled access to the personal archives of Queen Victoria’s husband, the illuminating documentary exposes the true extent of his power and his visionary influence on Britain.

The Bristol based production finance broker and distribution agent assisted in raising the production funds for the special and believes it has great appeal for the world market. “SBS Australia came on board quickly with a pre-sale offer and we have strong interest in it as a ready-made in other major territories.” Says MD, Bethan Corney.  “Royal documentaries are of particular interest in Scandinavia, Benelux and the English-speaking territories, but with Prince Albert’s German origins I don’t think it will be long before a channel snaps it up there.”

Spun Gold Television are the production house behind the one-hour special and have a strong pedigree when it comes to making documentary programming on the Royal Family. Executive Producer, Bridget Boseley, says “We were delighted to work with the Royal Collection Trust on this project. They gave us remarkable access to the archives at Windsor Castle.” For Prince Albert: A Victorian Hero Revealed the producers were given access to private papers and diaries, art collections and pioneering photographs – all of which is currently being digitised and will be available online for the public to access. “With the help of the curators, we were able to find evidence which demonstrated the pivotal role Prince Albert played in shaping Victorian Britain.” Says Bridget.

Viewers should expect to learn more about Queen Victoria’s legendary love for Prince Albert and, for his part, how his relationship with her underpinned all his actions. Historian and Professor Saul David, examines Albert’s significant influence on British culture, governmental policy and even international relations. Prince Albert: A Victorian Hero Revealed, airing at 8pm on Saturday 24 August, will show that Victoria may have worn the crown but Albert was king in all but name.

Silverlining will be taking Prince Albert: A Victorian Hero Revealed to MIPCOM 2019 as part of a slate of new titles. These include Strictly Street Dance (3 x 60’ from Knickerbockerglory) which explores local dance culture in Brazil, South Africa and New York and Secret Life of the Mega Resort (1 x 60’ from Brinkworth Films) which goes behind the scenes at a luxury resort in the Bahamas.
