Silverlining Rights unveils spring content slate

Leading independent production finance broker and distributor Silverlining Rights has revealed its spring 2025 slate, which includes UK-commissioned projects spanning genres including true crime, history, science and property.

The slate is led off by George Floyd: The Murder that Changed the World (1 x 60 min., Rogan Productions for BBC One), which is also available in a 90-minute feature version titled Backlash. The doc, which tells the story of the 2020 police killing that sparked a racial reckoning in America and sparked a wave of protests around the world, is already slated for release in the UK via the BBC, with a UK theatrical run also in the offing.

Also from Rogan Productions is the BBC One commission Rose Ayling-Ellis: Old Hands New Tricks (2 x 60 min.), which follows the actor and Strictly Come Dancing winner as she looks to transform lives by teaching a group of retirees British Sign Language.

Murder in the Skies: Who Downed MH17? (3 x  60 min.), produced by Passion Pictures for National Geographic Channels International, examines the infamous case of the Malaysian Airlines flight that crashed in Ukraine, killing all 298 people on board.

In Our Welsh Chapel Dream (8 x 60 min., Love Productions for Channel 4), intrepid couple Keith Brymer Jones and Marj Hogarth (pictured), who purchased a large derelict chapel in North Wales, turn the 19th-century building into a home, pottery studio and local event space.

The docuseries Platoon (4 x 60 min., Frank Films and GroupM Motion Entertainment for 5) embeds a small crew within a single platoon of new recruits of the British Army’s largest infantry regiment to tell the soldiers’ story at the ground level.

Europe’s Most Scandalous Prison (1 x 60 min., Good TV for 5) investigates one of Europe’s most troubled jails, HMP Wandsworth, which was built in 1851. London’s oldest prison, Wandsworth is also one of the most overcrowded, vermin-infested jails ever, receiving one of the most damning inspection reports in recent prison history.

The standalone doc special The Skinny Jab Scandal (1 x 60 min., Britespark Films for Channel 4) explores Britain’s obsession with weight-loss shots (a.k.a. “skinny jabs”), asking whether profits are being prioritized over patient safety.

Hurricanes from Above (1 x 60 min., Good TV for 5) uses new imagery from above, dramatic archive and user-generated footage to examine the most violent and deadly storms on the planet.

Finally, Hunting the Online Sex Predators (1 x 60 min., Strident for BBC One) sees entrepreneur, TV presenter and documentarian James Blake following up on his investigation Hunting the Catfish Crime Gang by accompanying a special global task force in the Philippines on a series of raids aimed at ending the horrific abuse.

“We like to do things slightly differently at Silverlining, and holding our own, bespoke content market twice a year, outside of MIPTV/MIPCOM, has proved highly successful in launching shows to our international buyers,” said Bethan Corney, founder and MD Silverlining Rights, in a release.
