Piers Secunda uncovers the hidden history of Alderney, to reveal new evidence of atrocities committed by the Nazis on British soil during World War two. Slave workers from across Europe were shipped to this tiny island to build a fortress for Hitler. Piers goes beyond the numbers to bring the names and faces of those who suffered back to life and tell the story of Alderney during the war.

When Hitler’s forces invaded the Channel Islands nobody knew just how brutal the occupation would become. Prisoners from France, Germany, Russia, Poland and Spain were shipped to the islands to build Hitler's 'fortress' and it was on Alderney where the treatment was harshest, with random shootings, beatings and starvations leaving thousands dead.
Using forensic testing, internationally renowned artist Piers Secunda tells the true story of the Nazi occupation of Alderney, giving names and faces to the stories of those suffered there and those who bravely tried to fight back and revealing how the UK Government hid the real reasons why it failed to prosecute any officers for war crimes.
With testimony from survivors and the families of those imprisoned on Alderney, this surprisingly personal film also travels to modern day Europe to fully explore the real story of the Nazi occupation of Alderney and those who were sent there.
