When the Queen's father, King George VI, died in 1952, his briefcase contained only one thing: highly classified papers detailing his personal mission to fool the Fuhrer and ensure success for hundreds of thousands of Allied troops about to storm the French coast.
To disguise the true plans of the British and Allied forces, determined to liberate Europe, the King acted as a human decoy. He conspired with Generals Eisenhower and Patton, among others, to hatch a plan involving 'phantom troops', public misdirection and unprecedented secrecy to divert Hitler from the true target: Normandy.
This pivotal historical event has been told many times, but never with the vital missing piece and detailed documentation that our story tells for the first time.
