The Girl Who Forgave The Nazis
Based on the recent trial of 94-year old ex-Auschwitz accountant Oskar Groening, THE GIRL WHO FORGAVE THE NAZIS tells one last unforgettable story from the holocaust.
In 2015, lifelong Nazi hunter Gunther Feld successfully prosecuted Groening for being an accomplice to the mass murder of 400,000 Jews. The trial gave a voice to the emotional stories of the last survivors living in Britain, who as children lost their families at Auschwitz yet somehow miraculously survived.
But it also led to worldwide controversy when one survivor, Eva Kor, now living in the United States, publicly forgave and embraced Oskar Groening in court. Incredibly, she did this despite the fact that almost all her family were killed in the Auschwitz gas chambers. Also, Eva and her twin sister Miriam nearly died when they were just ten years old, after they were chosen as human guinea pigs to be experimented on by the evil Dr Mengeles.
The journey that led this remarkable woman to forgive the Nazis – and the story of how other child survivors remain haunted by the horror of Auschwitz- is revealed in this deeply moving film. It is an extraordinary account of terrible evil, survival against all the odds and great humanity.
“Filled with survivors’ devastating stories and harrowing pictures, this was heart-breaking viewing.”
Amy Burns, The Independent
